Keystone Taffy
On the way back home from Mt. Rushmore, we make a quick stop in Keystone. It's quintessential Black Hills, South Dakota: quaint, cute, touristy, local and down-homey. I used to love stopping in all the shops as a kid, especially the taffy shop. It was deserted that morning, so we got an up-close view of homemade taffy production. It reminded me of our tour of Hammond's Candy in Denver, though on a much smaller scale. There were tons of taffy flavors to choose from. We purchased a bag of our own choosing, which took awhile since we let each kid pick three favorite flavors. Below you see key-lime pie taffy being flavored.
